I thought that the drums sat well with the track but once I brought it into pro tools I felt that the drums were lacking dynamics so I wanted to run it through the Fairchild Compressor to add some warmth to the track but not trigger the compressor pushing the drums too much. I also added A more surgical EQ The Sonnox Multiband EQ and i gained up the 200Hz range as I found that there was not much low end in the drums so I added an extra 5dB and then i moved on too removing this horrible airiness by adding a drop of -5dB at 1k and then another dip but this time wider between 3K and 6K with a -15dB drop helping remove the airiness and then there is a final Wide EQ at the 2k to 20K removing -20dB of unwanted ring that the reverb was making from when the instrument was made. After removing all this top end it opened space for the rest of the track to sit making the drops not too overwhelming.
These extra drums are there to help with the power of the House drums and are mixed into the back of the house drums. I also added the Sonnox Inflator which allows me to add sub harmonics to the track. I drove the effect up to 77.5% and 20.5% of the curve adding to the harmonics of the track helping with the dynamics of the drums.
To fix the buzz of the Rip-Table I added the Sonnox EQ to remove the frequencies that were coursing the annoying buzzy bee sound that was thoughout of the track. So to fix this i added a low pass filter at the 100Hz and below range and the i added 10dB at the 200Hz to 600Hz range and then a drop of -7dB at the 600Hz to 2K range and then i added a raze at the 1.5K to 4K range of 5dB and the a high pass filter at 10K to remove the more assertive frequencies but i didn't want to remove theses completely as i changed the feel of the instrument so i added a light gain at 10K to make the high pass filter acting a bit more steeply. This helped remove the buzz and make it feel more of an instrument and less of a buzzy distraction and more like an synth based instrument that added something interesting. I then wanted this instrument to feel a lot more interesting by using a compressor the Mc-DSP CB101 compressor bank with a key of bus 5 and bus 5 was being driven by the House Drums as a pre send to bus 5 to trigger the compressor to get the Rip-table to duck on the kick drum making it more interesting.
The washing bells was a very nice sound that works well in its patten but felt it had a but of a pitch that stood out making it at points making it too loud so I used the Sonnox Dynamics and turned on the compressor and i flattened it down to -24dB and the added a make up of about 1.5dB making the bells sit much better in the mix making it not feel as sudden.
So for the bottle blows I felt that I wanted this too span more of the stereo space so I used the VoxD Widen plugin that allow you to make a copy of the imputed sound and play it on top as a paned copy that makes the track a lot wider without removing the centre channel feel. The settings I used are 67% wide making it only 67% of the way into each ear widen it not overwhelming.
I levelled the audio using the pro tools volume sliders putting the drums on the top with the bass at the bottom and then the bottle chords and the washing bells in the middle with the wave table synth just behind it and this make the track work well with nothing overloading and nothing feeling completely out of place.
